The Lady Dribblers Celebrate School Spirit

The Boothbay Region Elementary School Lady Dribblers is a non-competitive basketball club for girls in grades 1-5. The focus of the program is to develop basketball dribbling and ball-handling skills in preparation for half-time performances. The popular program began 10 years ago by physical education teacher, Mrs. Lauren Brown. 32  students were members of this year's squad who wowed crowds each time they performed. Mrs. Brown was assisted by 2nd-grade teacher, Mrs. Barbara Crocker and by 8 veteran Lady Dribbler student coaches ranging in grades 6-12. Some of the performances over the years have included; BRES Wildcats, BRHS Seahawks, Bowdoin College Women, The University of Maine at Farmington Women, Saint Joseph's College Women, and the Portland Red Claws. The season typically runs from November through January with weekly early morning practices from 6:45-7:45 am.
