Boothbay Historical Society and BRES

Kathy Goldner, the Outreach Manager of the Boothbay Region Historical Society,  presented her second of three school programs to the third grade classes. This program's focus was the period of Boothbay history from the American Revoluton to the Civil War. She brought  many artifacts from this period of time and our students were able to hold and try out many of them. Of particular interest was the "stereoscope" to view pictures and photographs in a magnified way. Also, Kathy brought along a recently discovered 1866 journal belonging to a 12-year-old boy in Boothbay Harbor. It was fascinating to read some of his entries and hear about a typical day in a boy's life at that time. Ms. Goldner will return for her third classroom visit on April 10. This year's association between BRES third graders and the BRHS will culminate with a field trip to the Historical Society later in the spring.
